The Bags are Still at Home

Urgent meeting, please attend. Sure. We are about to go on a ski trip with my kids a 3-hour drive away. I took the day off. My son has a Valentine’s Day party at school at 3pm. He won’t attend. We are picking the kids up early to go on our trip. Work emergency. I pack the bags for the kids in between meetings. My husband comes home, also late, and packs the car. We leave to pick up the kids at daycare. We run in at 5.55pm, right before they close. “Why did you not pick us up early, mama?” asks my daughter. My son has a bag full of Valentine goodies. We get to the hotel and unload the car. “Where are the bags for the kids?” I ask my husband. “They have separate bags, I thought their stuff was in our bag?” my husband responds. Oh well, we have to leave a day early anyway to deal with the work emergency.
